flashback: nole’s bubblegum performance

Nole‘s snarky interview aside, the Serbian gets some props for infusing some new style and color into what was becoming a very monotonous (monochromous?) men’s tennis performance collection at adidas.

More: See the bright colors of Djokovic’s adidas kits after the cut…

He started off his 2008 U.S. Open campaign wearing the same kit he’d been sporting all summer: the Edge Theme Polo and Bermudas in Lava (orange) and Mono Sky (blue). With this, Nole beat Arnaud Clement in the first round.

He then debuted the fall Edge colors — dark maroon and and rave green — when he beat Marin Cilic in the third round. Interesting use of different colored wristbands (one white, one black) for his outfit. Also, we’re relieved to see color blocks cut up after a few seasons of practically solid tees. And yay for Duchamp-esque optical illusion print on the shirt’s right sleeve!

In his match against Tommy Robredo in the fourth (and in his loss to Roger Federer in the semis), we saw the inverted version of the Fall colors.

Buy: The Summer Edge Bermudas (Mono Sky/Lava), $42.95; Summer Edge Polo, $42.95; Fall Edge Bermudas, $42.95; Fall Edge Polo, $42.95.

Peekaboo!

It’s funny how the adidas men seem to have a better colour choices than the adidas women. But they still haven’t figured out a colour scheme that would allow the players to mix and match all the pieces. That’s a no-brainer solution to the clashes of outfit that plague the tour.

Not convinced by the pale baby blue shorts at all. Orange is fine but definitely prefer him in black.

    Still would though…

love the green and black, not the orange and blue. nole looks good with a cap on, but I do love his hair. he’s easy on the eyes. :)
