who's blue and green and envied all over?

(This is the last post in a series looking back at the 2007 Australian Open. Enjoy!)

Look at this wonderful green Nike ensemble worn by Serena Williams during the two weeks she tore up the draw at the 2007 Australian Open in Melbourne.

I’m pretty sure her fellow SEWTAers were green with envy over her performance. Serena started the year ranked 81st after a lackluster 2006 (which saw her affected by injury and off-court distractions). She was seen as a dangerous floater and took the part to heart: she beat fifth seed Nadia Petrova 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 — her first win over a Top 10 player since beating Lindsay Davenport at the 2005 Australian Open. She followed this up with a fourth round routing of eleventh seed Jelena Jankovic; a tight 3-6, 6-2, 8-6 battle over Shahar Peer in the quarters; and a straight-sent win over Nicole Vaidisova in the semis.

But it was in the final that Serena made her boldest statement. She took out the pale Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2 in 63 minutes to win her eight Grand Slam singles title (and third Aussie title).

Up close: What made Serena’s look so complete? She paired the green outfit with hoop earrings in a metallic royal blue and topped it off with a green wristband. And Nike paid close attention to the detail by adding white and striped trim to her dress.

What do you think of the outfit? Tell us!

Loved the outfits so much, bought them for myself.
Figured if Serena’s voluminous booty looked great in them, I’d look spectacular. ;-)))))
