Wilson Tennis thanks Serena Williams for being a huge inspiration for people in and outside the game. Wilson Tennis has created a video with several kids thanking Serena Williams for being such a role model who isn’t fake, changing one’s life, for breaking stupid rules, for showing that strong is beautiful, for changing the game, for showing someone that he or she belongs.
Wilson Tennis video lets the fans have their say
Then I headed over to the comments section and realized that only Serena Williams really touched people’s lives.
Take Lara Oge, she had a hard time keeping it dry as she openly admitted:
Yesterday I cried too hard that you lost. But still, you are the gratest player of all time. I wish you’ll do the calender grand slam.
Or take Valen Messi who just simply loves Serena Williams:
I love you Serena. You are my role model and you will always be the best and I know that you will always strive for the best. Thank you for being the best person you can be!!
Not everyone agrees on Serena being the GOAT
Ofcourse there are some people who don’t feel the need to thank Serena Williams for years of dedication, hard work to the sport. Or have little appreciation for her achievements and compare it to people who played the game in a different era and forget to put that in the appropriate context.
Like Matthew Harris, who doesn’t think that Serena should be regarded as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) and even claims that Serena doesn’t live up to Steffi Graff. Steffi Graff won the calendar Grand Slam plus the Olympic Gold Medal, which is called the “Golden Slam”.
Not the greatest, how can you have less slam wins and be considered! Graf Slam + Olympic Gold, she had legend rivals too!! serena, nowhere near!! Slams, titles, rivals, poor mover, just one dimensional power, well on certain balls that is, when she isnt grunting playing a drop shot!! lol will not get near the slam next year, as was fortunate to get through so many final set matches this year! IMO
Yes, what Steffi did in 1988 was remarkable. In fact, I think it is going to be a very long time before anyone will be able to repeat that kind of success. But keep in mind that 2015 is not an Olympic year. Which makes his comment moot.
Feel free to thank Serena Williams in either our comments section or on the Wilson Tennis video and if you are just like me and still suffer from that 2015 US Open hangover then enjoy it a little more with 100 years of US Open in photos.
