World No. 3 (and goateed) Novak Djokovic racked up his fifth title this year at the BA-CA Tennis Trophy in Vienna by beating Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 6-0. Not bad for his first tourney since getting to the finals of this year’s U.S. Open.
And not too far away, Nikolay Davydenko was mashing with his Kremlin Cup trophy after beating Paul-Henri Mathieu. This is the Russian’s first title of the year.
Whodathunk that a trophy could actually dwarf Ivo Karlovic? He beat Thomas Johansson 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 for his second title this year. And in Bangkok, Flavia Pennetta took out Yung-Jan Chan 6-1, 6-3 for her first title.
And the women in Moscow had their own Kremlin Cup tourney, and Elena Dementieva played against Serena Williams. The Russian turned a first-set hiccup into a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 win.
