After the doctors gave Rafa Nadal the green light to continue with his grueling style of professional tennis play for the rest of 2009, the Spaniard has decided to vie for the China Open title this week. He’s also slated Shanghai, Bercy, London, and the Davis Cup final (vs. the Czechs) for this year.
In Beijing, Rafa is through to the second round after taking out Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. He next faces James Blake. In his quarter of the draw is Fernando Gonzalez; in his half, Nikolay Davydenko. See the draw here.
The post-US Open version of his Nike polo is a green with navy blue and grey; it’s also available in a white with grey/green colorway. We’re totally wanting that polo, but the color contrast in those checkered shorts are a bit much. What do you think think? Tell us!
Buy: Nike Winter Woven Long Short, $55; Bold Master Polo, $60; both from TW.

As these various influences came collectively, a distinctly Cuban flavor and type developed, which is reminiscent of country peasant kinds of cooking by oral tradition and eye, instead than relying on particular measurements and the creation of dishes that are inclined towards the very simple and hearty, and that can be left on their private to simmer. Fussy, hefty sauces are strange and deep-frying is only not a favored cooking technique. The island nation, by natural means, utilizes a great offer of seafood in its cuisine, which encourages the use of straightforward cooking strategies and spicing that is meant to enrich, not smother, healthy flavors.

Love the tops, but the shorts are off, mostly Nadal looks great in anything, but not this shorts.

The shirt is nice, but the shorts are too Roddick/Lacoste and the jacket is too eleVen. Come on, Nike stick with originality.

Thumbs up to Rafa for finding a great combo… much better than the PINK and the taxi cab yellow.

I do love the pants and shirt, but only in Rafa, who is gorgeous…
P.S. – Sorry, forgot to tell you great post!

I REALLY like the shirt. I can do this mix as well, but as above, only on Rafa. That green is beautiful.

I think the shorts look less loud when paired with that navy zip up. Or, when he’s not wearing a shirt.

I didn’t catch the match but doesn’t it seem that Rafa is trying the Roger shot (hitting from between the legs) in the 3rd image?
Cissy says
Looks great! But only on Rafa…!

I love the colors together. The checkered shorts are bold and sporty yet dressy at the same time. One of my favorite outfits this year. Let’s face it though, I don’t think anyone other than Rafa could pull this off as well.
