Here’s a picture of the day dress that Nike designed for Sharapova to wear at this year’s U.S. Open. As we reported earlier, it has a black and white design depicting the New York skyline. It’s really cute!
I thought the dress merited as much attention as the coral (night match) dress that Sharapova wore to the junket. Instead, it got relegated to the mannequins along with Masha’s past fashion hits.
Skyline? What skyline?: I received a few e-mails wondering how the 600 Swarovski crystals formed a skyline on the red night match dress. It’ll make more sense if you think of it a bird’s eye view of Manhattan. The image displayed on that flatscreen above should help you out.

ha. i think that’s a pretty hideous dress.
i wonder if these dresses will be available for the general public… i know my mixed doubles team mate at my tennis club would want to snatch one for herself 🙂
Yep! The red dress is for all her night matches.
so this coral outfit she’s wearing is actually her US OPEN gear?
She’s back to the bad armhole cut and stringy hair. She’s doing it to punish me, isn’t she?
Initially I thought the black and white was a cheap imitation of Jay McCarroll’s Project Runway Chrysler Building dress. Then after finding a picture of that dress here http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger2/308/3845/1600/988381/S1E3Jay1.gif
I realized it really wasn’t as similar as I’d thought. Damn, Jay’s dress is still gorgeous though. Maria should get Jay to design for her.
