Playing round robin tennis without light: it sounds like Etienne de Villiers‘ worst nightmare.
Actually, it’s a part of slew of promotional events surrounding the Sony Ericsson Open. The tournament organizers have planned Night Tennis Miami, an innovative “concept” that combines tennis, music, and fashion. Players donning special tennis whites will be illuminated only by UV light. Each game only lasts three minutes. Underhand serves only; no serve and volley. (You can read more about the rules in the press release).
They’ll also have video installations and a fashion show to go with each evening. How truly Miami.
And in case you want to play along at home…
