The pro tours were all over the desert this week, playing tournaments in Vegas, Dubai, and Doha. The ATP also had a stop in Acapulco. The trophies looked pretty good this week. We had birds, ships, and even an oversized tennis ball. What else can we expect from Dubai and Doha, right? All but one tournament came out with a generic glass prism with some etching on it (shame on you, Vegas).
All the trophies are after cut.
There’s so much going on from Doha, so let’s start there. The tournament award this to Justine Henin:
oh wait there’s more. She also gets this deer-like thing:
Yep, she also got a Harley:
Hingis and Kirilenko got clock towers for winning the doubles title:
Not too far away, Mikhail Youzhny came in second to Roger Federer in Dubai:
While Roger got the most amazing trophy ever, the sailboat (!!!!!!), which is also what Fabrice Santoro and Nenad Zimonjic received for winning doubles:
Acapulco had some decent trophies. Emilie Loit and Juan Ignacio Chela received these:
a pear!
The runner-up, Carlos Moya, and the doubles winners, Potito Starace and Martin Vasallo received plaques:
And here’s what Lleyton got for winning in Vegas.
That’s all you’ve got, Vegas? Really? This is the land of Liberace, Celine Dion, Cirque Du Soleil, giant pyramids, volcanos, replicas of Greece, Paris, New York, and Venice — and all you could come up with was something I could’ve picked up at Things Remembered.
