fashion focus: sharapova’s blue stud earrings — tiffany?

Maria Sharapova - 2013 Australian Open - earrings

What say you about Maria Sharapova‘s blue stud earrings from the 2013 Australian Open? These look to us like Tiffany & Co. hardware – Elsa Peretti‘s Color by the Yard Earrings, $395.

Melbourne Miss: The World No. 2, also seeded No. 2 at the first Slam of 2013, charged through the draw Down Under, serving up two double bagels in her first two matches and dropping only nine games en route to the semis, where she lost 6-2, 6-2 to Li Na.

Li will face Victoria Azarenka in the final.

fashion focus: sharapova's diamonds

Maria Sharapova wore diamond drop earrings from Tiffany‘s Grade collection as she competed in this year’s U.S. Open. The collection features princess-cut diamonds bezel-set in square designs and paired with round diamonds in platinum. (Clothes: from Nikekits; warm-up)

On the court: Sadly, Maria couldn’t capitalize on her seeding, falling in the first week to Flavia Pennetta: 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 in the third round. (Draw: See how the last eight women are faring.)

french fashion focus: sharapova looks to steel and diamonds

Paris, Je t’aime: The French Open dress on Maria Sharapova was inspired by the City of Lights, marrying Masha’s ideal for unrestricted movement with the theory behind the Eiffel Tower’s construction: the structure is lighter that it seems.

And so they created this lightweight yellow Line 9 dress (referring to the Paris Metro, we assume). Note the top mesh layer on the skirt, which adds to the visible flowiness as Maria moves around the court, and the diamond cut-out on the back. All the lines along the body harken to old methods of corsetry now applied with modern techniques. She keeps going back to corsets, that one.

For the curious, she’s wearing a Nike Luna Speed 3 shoe.

Girl’s best friend: The Tiffany & Co. drop earrings that she’s wearing this week have rose-cut diamonds set in platinum. Buy: Tiffany cobblestone earrings with rose-cut diamonds in platinum; $3,200; tiffany.com.

Brackets: At the French, seventh-seeded Maria took out Mirjana Lucic 6-3, 6-0 in the first round and next faces Caroline Garcia. How far do you think she’ll go? Remember, she took a title in Rome. You can see the rest of her section of the draw here.

sharapova's teardrops — the good kind

Maria Sharapova took over three hours to defeat 26th seed Alexandra Dulgheru 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) in the quarters of this week’s Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. Up next will be Andrea Petkovic, who’s already upset Caro Wozniacki and Jelena Jankovic on the way to the semis. And things don’t look good for Maria: Petko’s already beaten her once this year, at the fourth round in Melbourne.

In the bottom half of the women’s draw, the Radwanksa/Zvonareva and Clijsters/Azarenka matches’ll determine who ends up with spots in the semis. (Scan: SEO Draws)

But who cares about Masha’s ugly stats — 17 double faults; twice as many unforced errors as Dulgheru — or that she rolled her ankle late in the third set? Take a look at those turquoise teardrop earrings from Tiffany! Matches her turquoise dress, of course.

fashion focus: starfish in a little blue box

You know about our affinity for all things aquatic (what’s the word for “lover of dead zones”?), so it should come as no surprise that we’re into designer Elsa Peretti‘s line of starfish jewelry for Tiffany. Peretti is also the one behind the drop earrings worn by Maria Sharapova as part of her 2010 Wimbledon get-up.

Browse: Our fave is that simple brooch, available in 18k gold ($2,200) and sterling silver ($350). Rest of the goods are here.
