for ana’s u.s. open run, a limited edition adidas barricade V

Those of you who’ve picked up the September issue of TENNIS might have noticed an ad for a limited edition Summer Slam Barricade V from adidas.

This shoe, made with Ana Ivanovic in mind, incorporates the colorways of her fall petal Edge Dress in slate/orange — the second good use of orange we’ve seen this week.

It’s all in the details: Much like her adilibria shoes, which had Swarovski crystals adhered to its eyelets, this line has some feminine accents, including sparkles on that slate sole and a ghosted female silhouette throught the shoe’s white upper. (Ghosting is this summer’s trend, apparently.)

Buy: adidas Barricade V, multiple colorways, $120, midwestsports.com.

adidas: fall colors for the summer games

Don’t know why adidas opted out of vibrant colors emblematic of flags and stuck with their traditional black and white. Perhaps they OD’ed on color for the North American hardcourts?

While Roger and Rafa are wearing bright red for the games (through Nike), the adidas guys (Nole, Mikhail Youzhny, etc.) will wear these adidas Barricade 5 Beijing ($120). They stay with the same simple three-stripe concept for the entire Made for Beijing line. (You know how I like my hi-tops, so archery and boxing shoes are my faves…)

Now, the clothes: See the men’s and women’s tops/bottoms after the cut…
