sunday survey: after a goerge(ou)s week, what's next?

Pretty in (dirt) red: Julia Goerges took a happy tumble after her epic run in Stuttgart this week, the German breaking through for a title win by a home-grown German girl for the first time since Anke Huber won the event in 1994. Not only did Goerges win Stuttgart, she also banked $111K, a sports car and beat world no. 1 Caroline Wozniaki for the first time in three tries, 7-6 (3), 6-3.

It got us wondering: Who’s next on the WTA to go big-time? Petko? Yanina? Julia?! Vote below.

any reason to bring up anke huber? <3

Julia Goerges became the first German finalist at the WTA stop in Stuttgart since Anke Huber (!!) got there in 1996. She upset Sam Stosur 6-4 3-6 7-5 to book a spot in the final against Caro Wozniacki.

Also of note is how cute she looks as a Nike mascot in the tank version of the current Maria Sharapova collection — that teal tank is part of the same line as the gold-trimmed dress on Masha herself. Yes, we said tank because that skirt is non grata in our book; looks like something Alexis Mateo would’ve dreamed up on this season’s run of “Rupaul’s Drag Race,” no?
