All the fashion coverage at the 2007 U.S. Open made it seem like a red carpet event, so it was no surprise that Serena Williams ended up with earrings on loan to dress up her malfunctioning black and pink U.S. Open dress. Euphoria New York loaned the $15,000 pair to Serena for the tourney; she fell totally in love and decided to buy it for herself.
(Of course, she wasn’t the only one wearing jewelry. Her sister Venus wore a ginormous ring while debuting her EleVen outfits; Svetlana Kuznetsova wore her “S” necklace all the way through the finals; pearl drop earrings accompanied the Nike dresses of Maria Sharapova. Even Serena had more modest jewelry — a heart pendant and some hoop earrings — for her first round match.)
The rocks on Serena gave Masha’s Swarovskied dress a run for its money: each piece is made with three marquise diamonds and two rows of graduated rounds (all set in white gold).
