trophy watch: three-set finals all around

Aww. Look at these two. I would make the same faces if I took out the Bryan Brothers 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 in the finals of the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas. Michael Llodra teamed up with fellow Frenchman Julien Benneteau because Llodra’s regular partner, Arnaud Clement, has been nursing a left ankle injury (among other things).

The rest: See the rest of the week’s trophies — including the ones from Dubai and Bangalore — after the cut…

Sam Querrey - Tennis Channel Open 2008

In singles, Sam Querrey reasserted his place among the up-and-comers of American tennis with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over South African qualifier Kevin Anderson. This is the first ATP singles title for the Thousand Oaks (Calif.) native. We’ll see what he does with this momentum going into Indian Wells later this week.

Andy Roddick, Feliciano Lopez, Dubai 2008

Pulling a Roger: Andy Roddick temporarily hushed the naysayers who wondered about his ability to operate without a coach. He did so by beating the Joma Sport-sponsored Feliciano Lopez 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-2. Roddick is the first American winner of the tournament.

Mark Knowles, Mahesh Bhupathi, Dubai 2008

Martin Damm, Pavel Vizner, Dubai 2008

In doubles, Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles take the titlel; Martin Damm and Pavel Vizner are runners-up.

Bab — they’re not *that* bad. I’d rather take home a gold falcon (or a water buffalo) than take home yet another crystal vase (or tennis ball/racquet/etc).

I was comparing the Bangalore women’s trophees to dubai men’s ones. 😉

About Dubai, I’ve got the same question than Denise.
