WTA Announces Finalists for 2014 WTA Championships Host City

The WTA has announced the three remaining cities bidding for the year-end WTA Championships for 2014 and beyond: Monterrey, Mexico; Singapore; and Tianjin, China. WTA Chief Stacey Allaster will visit each of the cities in the coming weeks, culminating in an announcement of the host city in April.

“The WTA Championships provide cities around the world a stage on which their cities can be showcased. I am very pleased with the amount of international interest the Championships bidding process has received,” said Allaster. “I look forward to meeting with each finalist city and having the opportunity to review, in-person, the details of each bid.”

After receiving more than 40 initial expressions of interest for the 2014 WTA Championships, the field was narrowed to four (4) cities in November 2012 — Kazan, Russia; Mexico City; Singapore; and Tianjin. Monterrey replaces Mexico City as the official candidate city from Mexico.
