flashback: robredo at the 2007 aussie open

Tommy in the Dexter polo and Drey shorts from Sergio Tacchini

I had such high hopes for Spaniard Tommy Robredo after I saw him wear this Sergio Tacchini ensemble at the Australian Open in January. He took in the style from the halcyon days of Borg, McEnroe, Vilas — everything from the tight shirts, to the bandana, to the feathered hair — and made it work for 2007.

What do you think of this look? Tell us!

Unfortunately, Tommy’s Tacchini look has stagnated since, and even included a Nike-style misstep at Roland Garros which found him and Italian Filippo Volandri playing against each other in the same orange polo.

On the flip side, the fashionable Volandri has taken matters into his own hands, partnering with Dolce & Gabanna for Wimbledon and Emporio Armani at the U.S. Open.

What happened, Tommy?

  1. I don’t love Tommy’s orange polo, but I think almost anything looks good on him.
