Nike rolls out its small winter collection to breath life into the post-U.S. Open tennis season. Which isn’t to say that the fall and winter months aren’t action-packed. It’s just that the Grand Slams are done for the year, so the general public stops paying attention to the sport. (On the Baseline makes a great case for why people’s attentions shouldn’t wane.)
Cartographer’s wet dream: The highlight is the Winter Heritage T-Shirt. Available in white or navy, it features a birds-eye mash-up of all four Grand Slam complexes — Melbourne Park, the All-England Lawn & Tennis Club, Roland Garros, and the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. And written across the graphic in red font are the coordinates of each venue.
The cute crest on the shirt’s sleeve combines the symbols Nike has designated for Roger Federer at each Slam: the Aussie Open kangaroo, Wimbledon’s crowned feline, the U.S. Open’s Lady Liberty, and the French Open (odd) rooster (out).
What do you think of the shirt? Tell us!
Other items in the collection include the Heritage UV Polo (with plaid lining on its 3-button placket) and the Heritage Jacket.
Buy: Heritage Tee ($25), Polo ($50), and Jacket ($65) all available at TW.
