tattoo watch: volandri doesn't have one

As much as we’re on the lookout for players who have tattoos, sometimes it’s nice to know when we can strike someone from the “already tattooed” list.

Italian Filippo “Filo” Volandri, in a quick bio on his site, says that he has neither tattoos nor piercings.

Other interesting bits about the highest-ranked Italian on the ATP tour:

  • Whom he considers the nicest guy on the tour: Carlos Moya
  • The rudest: Lleyton Hewitt (pre-Mia, perhaps)
  • Best crowd: the Romans
  • The crowd he can’t handle: the Chileans
  • One thing he can’t live without: Coca-Cola. (Bless!)

Volandri played the BCR Open Romania this week (in Bucharest). As the second seed, he lost to Gael Monfils in the first round. Today, he (along with doubles partner Sergio Roitman) were eliminated from the doubles draw by local faves Victor Hanescu and Andrei Pavel.

Fashion focus: For his singles match, he wore the same red shirt from EA7 — that’s Emporio Armani‘s sports collection — which made its quick debut at the U.S. Open. (We didn’t know about the curves on the back.)

And he wore a simpler blue polo for his doubles match while partner Roitman was clad in No Brand.

.. that sucks, I’m from Chile & the guy is right… i hate how people behave in tennis matches, it’s like they don’t get that it’s NOT FOOTBALL.. they are very loud and rude, no wonder why “viña del mar open” is so unpopular…
